18th Century Neoclassical Giltwood Mirror
Featured is a Federal period neoclassical gilt wood mirror. The rectangular frame is decorated with olive leaves with rosettes on the four corners. The lower rail is mounted with a central torch flanked by ribboning and scrolling acanthus leaves terminating in floral medallions. The top rail is mounted with the same scrolling acanthus leaves flanking a central floral bouquet. The left side has a small area of ribboning that is absent. See photo. This item is fitted with the original glass and is in very good condition. The gilt is original and have not bee disturbed with by any restoration work. This is a gorgeous mirror in the traditional Neoclassical style that was so popular in the later half of the 18th century.
